Mary's Peak Time Trial

I don't have Bill here to give me the particulars so I might need to update this later but the Mary's Peak Time Trial was not a PR for him, not even close, but was more of a test of how in shape he could get in two weeks by riding the Peak every other day. This is his favorite climb so when this time trial came up I pushed him to sign up even though he is not in riding shape and is 10 pounds overweight (his words not mine!) I think his PR on the 9 mile climb is somewhere around 47 minutes but he had been riding it around 55 minutes recently. On race day he rode 51:18 which put him 38 out of 69 riders. In shape he would have been closer to the top 20.

Mary's Peak is the highest point in the Cascade mountain range and the base of the peak is a a around 18 miles outside of Corvallis. We are very privileged to have this climb nearby, it is also lovely for hiking, on a clear day you can see to the coast to the west and Mt Hood to the east. Marshall and I went up to cheer and hike and had a lovely time watching everyone SUFFER up the hill. Some of the guys hamming it up after their assault on the Peak:
