Information Report

Purpose: to provide information about a specific topic

Structure
·         a general opening statement or introductory paragraph
·         paragraphs with key points
·         headings and subheadings (categorisation)
·         may include illustrations
·         may include a conclusion

Language
  • use of short, simple sentences to inform readers about the details of the topic
  • simple (timeless) present tense
  • present perfect tense
  • use of specific vocabulary or technical words
  • passive voice

Text forms
  • pamphlets
  • brochures
  • publications, e.g., science journals
  • encyclopaedia
  • non-fiction books
