Snow Ice Cream - Baby It's Cold Outside

Goodness it's cold outside!!!! I was hoping we would get a bit of snow this year and this morning I was awakened to the most beautiful site. Snow!!!! The kids were so excited the first thing they wanted to do was go out and play. I have to say I don't blame them I have such wonderful memories growing up and having fun in the Nebraska snow with my brother.

My bother and I would grab our sleds and all the neighborhood kids would meet on the back hill. We had so much fun having snow ball fights and racing down that snowy hill. After all the fun we would meet up at one of our friends house so all of use could dry out our snow boots and warm up with some hot chocolate.

We would also make up a batch of some yummy Snow Ice Cream. Have you ever had snow ice cream? If you haven't you don't know what you are missing. I posted about this delicious treat last year around this same time.

It was such an exciting time because it was then that my children got their first taste of this yummy treat.  Now today's snow fall doesn't even come close to last years record of 13 inches in one day, but you see here in Texas it does not snow that often so we always take what we can get.

I took the photo above this morning as soon as we awoke. I love fresh untouched snow because it looks so peaceful. We only got about 3 inches, but all that matters is that we got a little of the white stuff. 

In fact it was just enough snow so we could make our favorite treat of snow ice cream. So today I am posting the recipe again for Snow Ice Cream because it is only fitting for today's weather.

Snow Ice Cream

Ingredients:

8 - 9 cups freshly fallen snow (we place bowls out to catch the fresh snow)

1 - (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

1 - teaspoon vanilla extract
sprinkles, optional

Directions:

Place snow into a large bowl. Pour condensed milk over and add vanilla. Slowly Mix to combine. Serve immediately in bowls with or without sprinkles.

Cook's Note: Make sure to use fresh fallen snow when making snow ice cream. We placed some bowls out to catch all of our snow). Also if you're going to comment and say how I am feeding my children chemicals please don't bother to comment at all. There are more chemicals in today's foods than fresh fallen snow.
