Chocolate Candy Cups (Christmas DVD Set Giveaway CLOSED)
Good thing these Chocolate Candy Cups are quick and easy to make. I usually just melt chocolate almond bark and add all my yummy mix in's. I like to make pecan cups and crispy crunch cups out of crispy rice cereal.
A while back I saw a recipe at Delightful Country Cookin that used a combination of german chocolate, chocolate chips and chocolate almond bark instead.
I have to say I really love this combination so much better than just plain old almond bark. All of the chocolates mixed together add the perfect chocolaty combination.
Instead of melting the chocolate in the slow cooker I did mine in the microwave. I prefer this method so I can keep an eye on the chocolate and prevent scorching. I also like to add the chocolate to mini muffin tins and make candy cups.
It is so much easier and the mini liners add such a nice touch. Our favorite mix in's are chopped pecans and crispy rice cereal. But you can also use almonds, peanuts, toffee pieces or marshmallows. There's no rule here so just pick your favorites.
Well our candy making rolled over into today. So the kids and I popped in a Christmas DVD and finished making all of the candy that we planned. We had such a great time making vanilla pretzels, saltine toffee candy and watching Christmas shows together.
What movie did we watch? Well an old standby of course. The Original Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer!! I love all those old classic Christmas movies from when I was a kid. You know the ones. Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.
I remember when I was a little girl just waiting for all the classic Christmas show to come on TV. My brother and I would circle the date on the TV guide so we wouldn't miss them. Then when they finally came on we would sit together and watch all the Christmas shows and munch on mom's Christmas Butter Cookies.
I sure do miss the days of being a kid. I am so glad all the original classics are still around. It really wouldn't be Christmas If I couldn't watch all of our favorite Christmas movies with my kids. To me the original classics never get old.
I was so excited when Classic Media contacted me and asked me if I would review the new Original Christmas Classics DVD Boxed Set in Blue Ray. Now the kids and I don't have to sit back and wait for our favorite classic movies to come on TV. We can just watch them anytime we want and more than just once. So needless to say I am enjoying my very own set of my favorite Original Christmas Classics.
The new boxed set also includes a bonus music CD featuring the songs from the classic movies including “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” (Burl Ives), “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (Brenda Lee), “Frosty the Snowman” (Jimmy Durante) and “A Holly Jolly Christmas” (Burl Ives) and more! Now we can enjoy all the classic songs in the car as well.

Before I go here is the recipe for the chocolate candy cups. These make a great teacher gift. I like to mix and match candy cups and place them in clear plastic gift bags. Just tie on a pretty ribbon and gift tag.
Chocolate Pecan & Chocolate Crunch Candy Cups
Ingredients:
1 - 24 oz package of chocolate almond bark
1 - 16 oz package semi sweet chocolate chips
1 - 4 oz package bakers German chocolate bar
1 1/2 cups pecan pieces & 1 1/2 crispy rice cereal
mini muffin liners
mini muffin pan
Directions: In a large Pyrex bowl add the chocolate almond bark. Make sure to break the bark into smaller squares.
Add the German chocolate bars and the chocolate chips. Place in the microwave and using the defrost setting melt the chocolate mixture in 3 minute intervals until all the chocolate is melted and smooth. Make sure to stir between each interval.
While the chocolate is melting add one liner to each muffin cup. After the chocolate is melted separate into two different bowls.
Add pecan pieces to one bowl and crispy rice cereal to the second bowl, stir the mixture in each bowl to combine. Working quickly add the chocolate mixture to each mini muffin cup.
Fill to about 3/4 full. Let the candy cups sit on the counter until the chocolate hardens.
Cook's Note: I don't add all the mix in's together. After the chocolate is melted I separate the chocolate into bowls and add nuts, crispy rice cereal or marshmallows individually. That way I can make all sorts of different candies. Nut cups, peanut cluster cups, crunchy rice cups or marshmallow ones.
