Beaver Freezer 2010

The OSU Triclub doubled the capacity (600 racers!) of this sprint triathlon this year and it still sold out in under 2 hours. It's the first race of the season and everyone wants a t-shirt that says "Beaver Freezer Triathlon" on it. Bill and I had to get up a 5am to setup the Tribabe booth since the 1st heats go off at 7:30 am which means racers arriving by 6 am. We actually had some come up to us at 5:45am and ask where packet pickup was located. Dude.

Bill did manage to race this year and had a poor swim, below average bike, and an OK run which left him in 10th overall and not too satisfied with the day. This is what happens when you have a baby, life takes priority of training time. He'll be back next year though and hopefully he'll have more time train by then. I don't know though, I hear his wife is pretty high maintenance.

Sunny won the female race handily, despite putting on 10 layers of clothes in T1. Some dude we never heard of trounced everyone and even lapped most of the field on the run. Dude!

I had a blast seeing old triclub members and standing around in the cold and rain not selling anything. Sales were about what they were 4 years ago when I had a lot less inventory and nothing on sale. I was selling hoodies for $20 and hats for $10 and didn't sell a whole lot more than that. Cold weather drives people away from shopping post race. Oh well!

Post race we went to a baby shower and then my mom made Easter dinner. We were all asleep by 9:30 pm. Exhausted but finally warm!
