Small celebration

Bill and I went to the Dr. today for the first ultrasound and the Dr. asked if she could be straight forward with what she needed to say and we assured her that we would prefer that. She cautioned us about the chances of miscarriage and we confirmed that we understood and she quickly started on the ultrasound and right away we could see, there is something there! I didn't just imagine the symptoms, there is the start of a baby growing inside of me! Bill and the Dr. thought they could see the heart beat, I was lying down and couldn't see much but they both thought it was a heart beat. She measured the sack (?) and put me around six weeks instead of eight.

She told us this is a small celebration and that we will know more at 9 weeks when they can do a better measurement and confirm growth is occurring. She counseled me on nutrition and exercise, skiing is out this year and I need to be cautious with running, keeping my heart rate below 130 and all exercise has to be done at conversation level. I was glad Bill was there with me, I'm still a little overwhelmed and scared but today we have something small to celebrate. Cheers friends!
